Help that’s on your side, not selling to you
removemydeepfake.com is an independent, public-interest resource for anyone targeted by a deepfake. We exist to turn a frightening, confusing situation into a clear set of steps, starting with the free and official routes that work.
Why this site exists
When a deepfake of you appears online, the first searches you do are full of panic and full of companies trying to sell you something. Real help, what the law actually says, which free tools work, and what to do first, is buried. We built this site to put that help front and center, in plain language, without shame and without a sales pitch.
How we keep it accurate
This is a “your money or your life” topic: legal rights and safety. So we hold ourselves to a higher bar.
- Primary sources only for legal claims. We verify what we say about laws and platform policies against official sources, the FTC, Congress, government legislation, and the platforms’ own help pages, not second-hand blog summaries.
- We separate law from proposal. When something is enacted law we say so; when it’s only proposed (like the DEFIANCE Act), we say that too.
- We date everything. Laws and platform rules change fast. Every page shows when it was last updated, and we cite the source so you can check.
- Free first. We lead with no-cost official routes (StopNCII, Take It Down, platform reports, Google removal) and are honest about when paid help is, and isn’t, worth it.
Our independence
Independent and victim-first. Not a law firm, not a removal vendor. Free and official routes always come first. If we ever mention a paid service, it’s in the context of helping you judge it critically, including the warning signs of removal scams.
What we’re not
We are not a law firm and we are not a removal company. Nothing here is legal advice. For advice on your specific case, talk to a qualified attorney or one of the free victim-support helplines we link throughout the site. If you’re in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
We are working to add a named legal reviewer to strengthen our coverage. In the meantime, every legal statement on this site links to its primary source so you can verify it yourself. See our sources.
